Welcome to Wynter Psychology!

Welcome to Wynter Psychology! My name is Denise and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist in the City of Fort Saskatchewan.

I believe that I bring a unique perspective to the therapeutic space with my lived and professional experience as a second generation Canadian, Alberta Certified Teacher, and parent to a biracial family. My approach to the therapeutic space is person centred and collaborative. I am not the expert on your journey. My role in your journey is to assist you in utilizing your strengths to develop strategies to overcome the hurdles in your path.

Alongside my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Concordia University of Edmonton), Bachelor of Elementary Education (University of Alberta) and Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology (Yorkville University) degrees, I have also obtained training in EMDR, Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1, Emotion Focused Therapy and Spiritually Augmented Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

My education combined with my professional experiences within the education system, social service programs, Headstart, and mental health programs have given me a mosaic of knowledge and skills to assist individuals of all ages with a variety challenges including behavioual/social/emotional concerns, interpersonal relationships, infertility and life transition. Lived experience as a bicultural individual, adoptive and large family parent allows me to have a remarkable lens on what your journey may entail.

Wynter Psychology is part of a collaborative practice called Infinite Path, which specializes in supporting neurodiverse individuals and families.

Please note, as required by the College of Alberta Psychologists, Provisional Psychologists are required to be under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist. I am under the supervision of Registered Psychologist, Brandi Smith.
